TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION
May 27TH, 1963
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Bacon.
Present: Bacon, Mitchell, Morris, Gibbons, Sheridan, Hurd.
Absent: Mueller.
City Attorney Rourke, present.
City Engineer, Carlsen, absent.
Planning Advisor Remland, present.
Moved by Morris, seconded by Mitchell that minutes of
previous meeting be approved as mailed and read. Carried.

Hearing on Variance Application No. 63-129 of M. J.
Sheridan to permit an existing detached accessory
structure located at 14721 Evanston Circle, Tustin,
opened at 7:35 P.M. Mr. Sheridan, applicant, spoke
in favor and explained the justification in asking
for application.
Correspondence from County read by Mr. Remland,
Planning Advisor.
There being no further comments or recommendations from
Police or Fire Department, hearing was declared closed
at 7:45 P.M.
Moved by Morris, seconded by Mitchell that Variance
No. 63-129 be granted. Carried by roll call, all
members voting~ Aye.

DISTRICT
Hearing on U.P. 63-141, Tustin School District, to per-
mit construction of an Elementary School at Fourth St.
and North B Street extension opened at 7:56 P.M.
Correspondence from County read by Planning Advisor.
Jim Crommint, residing at 1662 Westbury Lane, Tustin,
spoke on behalf of residents of that area objecting to
extension of B Street as it would cause t~ spilling
of school traffic down Westbury Lane.
Mr. Currie, representing the School District explained
the conditions as set forth by Mr. Promise.
Mr. Crommint requested a continuation of hearing, in
order for residents of area and Tustin School Board
to have a joint discussion relative to problems pre-
sented.
Moved by Mitchell, seconded by Gibbons, that hearing on
UP 63-141 be continued to June 10th, in order that
residents of Westbury Lane and Tustin School District
be able to meet for discussion. Carried by roll call.
All members voting Aye.
Sheridan present at meeting--8:15 P.M.
63-130 Hearing opened at 8:15 P.M. on Variance Application No.
HERCULES CONST. 63-130 of Hercules Construction Co. to permit service
CO. station at N.E. corner of Yorba and Fourth Streets.

Objections to application by R. W. Barnes of Tustin.
Those speaking in favor were:
Mr. C. W. Young and Mr. Roy Lewis, both of Tustin.

Moved by Morris, seconded by Sheridan, that Application
63-130 be denied. Motion carried: Ayes: Morris,
Gibbons, Sheridan. Noes: Mitchell.
Hearing opened at 8:30 P.M. on UP 63-140, applicant
George A. Royer to permit construction of seven apart- ments and seven carports at D Street between Laguna
Road and Newport Avenue.
Letter from County read by Planning Advisor.
There being no recommendations from Police or Fire
Departments and no comments, hearing declared closed
at 8:40 P.M.
Conditions for approval of application read by Planning
Advisc~r, Re~dand.
Moved by Morris, seconded by Mitchell, that application
be approved, subject to the conditions set forth that
if carports are built that they be finishedon the in-
side. Motion carried. Ayes: Sheridan, MitcheLl,
Morris, Givvons. Abstained: Hurd.
Hearing opened at 8:50 P.M. by applicant Ayres Realty
on UP 63-142, for sign at Newport Avenue and McFadden,
UP 63-143 for sign at Newport Freeway and McFadden,
UP 63-144 for sign at 1400 Newport Blvd.
There being no recommendations or comments, hearing
declared closed at 8:54 P.M.
Moved by Morris, seconded by Sheridan, that U.P. 63-142,
63-143, and 63-144, be approved for one year, subject to
conditions of Planning Staff and that signs be erected
with no conflict with Landscape Freeway Sign Ordinance
and City of Tustin Sign Ordinance and that $100.00
Removal Bond be posted. Carried.
Continued hearing on U.P. 63-139, Mobil Oil Co. to
permit sign in C-2 P Zone, opened at 9:00 P.M. There
having been no further correspondence received con-
cerning it, the hearing was declared closed at 9:03 P.M.
Moved by Morris, seconded by M~tchell that as no further
correspondence or information had been received and on
advice of City Attorney, Mr. Rourke, U.P. 63-139 be
removed from the A~enda. Carried by roll call. All
members voting Aye.
Hearing on Tustin Village Development opened at 9:05 P.M.
Moved by Morris, seconded by MitcheLl that Declaration
of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions pertaining to
Tustin Village, Inc., be sent to Tustin Council with
recommendations of Planning Commission and Planning
Staff. Carried.
Moved by Morris, and seconded by Mitchell, that the County
be notified that this commission had no objections to
Sectional District Map, IRS-11 Exhibit R, Case #655.
Carried.
Moved by Gibbons, seconded by Hurd, that the County be
notified that this commission has no objections to
Sectional District Map, IRS-13, Exhibit T. Carried
by Roll call. Abstained: Morris
Moved by Morris, seconded by Mitchell, that the County
be notified that due to impending meeting between Tustin
Elementary School District Board and residents of area
concerned, no action at this time was taken on C-P
1041. Carried.
Moved by Sheridan, seconded by Morris, that the corres-
pondence be received and filed. Carried.
Moved by Morris, seconded by Sheridan, that the meeting
be adjourned to June 10th, 1963. Carried.
