A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO THE CITY COUNCIL
OF GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT 89-03, A
REQUEST TO CHANGE THE GENERAL PLAN LAND
USE DESIGNATION FROM P&I (PUBLIC AND
INSTITUTIONAL) TO I (INDUSTRIAL) ON THE
PROPERTY LOCATED SOUTHEASTERLY OF FUTURE
JAMBOREE ROAD ADJACENT TO PETERS CANYON
WASH
The Planning Commission of the City of Tustin does hereby
resolve as follows:
I. The Planning Commission finds and determines as follows:

Government Code Section 65356.1 provides that when
it is deemed to be in the public interest, the
legislative body may amend a part of the General
Plan.

Tha%-.-a proper-application has been filed on behalf
of the Irvine Industrial Company for the purpose of
reclassifying the General Plan Land Use designation
of the property located southeasterly of future
Jamboree Road adjacent to Peters Canyon Wash from
P&I (Public and Institutional) to I (Industrial)
and described as Asessor's Parcel NO. 434-061-014.

That a public hearing before the Planning
Commission to consider General Plan Amendment 89-
.03 was duly called, noticed and held on November
13, 1989.

Government Code Section 65358(b) states that no
mandatory element of a General Plan shall be
amended more frequently than four (4) times per
calendar year.
This General Plan Amendment has been reviewed in
accordance with the California Environmental
Quality Act. It has been determined that this
project will not have a significant effect on the
environment and a Negative Declaration has been
prepared.

The proposed Industrial designation is in the best
interest of the public and surrounding properties

in that an Industrial designation would allow
greater land use compatibility between the adjacent
military operations, future development in the City
of Irvine and future extension of Jamboree Road.

The proposed General Plan Amendment is consistent
with other elements of the General Plan,
particularly the Land Use Element.
II. The Planning Commission hereby recommends to the City
Council approval of General Plan Amendment 89-03 as
shown on Exhibit A, amending the General Plan Land Use
designation from P&I (Public and Institutional) to I
(Industrial) on the property located southeasterly of
future Jamboree Road adjacent to Peters Canyon Wash.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Planning
Commission, held on the 13th day of November, 1989.
