A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TUSTIN, APPROVING A 5 FOOT, 7 INCH HIGH, 32 SQUARE
FOOT INTERNALLY ILLUMINATED MONUMENT SIGN AT 1201 S.
E. IRVINE BOULEVARD.

The Planning Commission of the City of Tustin does hereby resolve as
follows:
I. The Planning Commission finds and determines as follows:

A. That a proper application, Use Permit 89-27, has been filed on
behalf of Aldersgate United Methodist Church to request
authorization to install a 5' 7" hlgh, 32 sq. ft. double-faced
Internally Illuminated monument sign at 1201 S. E. Irvlne
Boulevard.
B. That a public hearing was duly called, noticed and held on
August 28, 1989 for said application.
C. That establishment, maintenance, and operation of the use
applied for will not, under the circumstances of this case, be
detrimental to the health, safety, morals, comfort, or general
welfare of the persons residing or working In the neighborhood
of such proposed use, evidenced by the following findings:
1. The site is located in the Public and Institutional Zone.

The sign advertises a use al lowed in the Public and
Institutional Zone.
D.
That the establishment, maintenance, and operation of the use
applied for will not be injurious or detrimental to the property
and improvements in the neighborhood of the subject property,
nor to the general welfare of the City of Tustin, and should be
granted.
E. That this project is Categorically Exempt {Class 11) from the
requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act.

II.
The Planning Commission hereby approves Use Permtt 89-27 to establish
a 5 foot 7 Inch high, 32 square foot double-faced Internally
illuminated monument stgn located at 1201 S. E. Irvtne Blvd., subject
to the followtng condttl ons:
A. The sign shall be constructed and installed pursuant to the
plans submitted, or as herein modified, date stamped August 28,
1989. Any modifications to these plans shall require the prior
approval of the Community Development Director and/or Planning
Commission (as determined by the Director).
B. The changeable copy letters shall be "brown" in color to match
the remainder of sign.
C. The existing readerboard monument sign shall be removed, prior
to installation of the new sign.
D. No additional signs shall be installed on site.

Additional landscaping, such as low shrubs or color plants,
shall be installed at the base of the sign, on both sides, to
the satisfaction of the Director of Community Development prior
to final of any building permits for the subject sign.
F. The text of the changeable copy sign shall be limited to
information on church events, guest speakers, titles of sermons
or other similar .information.

Prior to issuance of any building permits, payment shall be made
of all applicable building plan check and permit fees to the
Community Development Department.

Applicants shall submit plans for building plan check complying
with all provisions and regulations of the Tustin Building Codes
subject to approval of the Building Official.

Unless otherwise specified, the conditions contained in this
resolution shall be complied with prior to the issuance of any
building permit for the project, subject to the review and
approval by the Community Development Department.

J. Conditional Use Permtt approval shall become null and votd
unless building permits are issued and substantial construction
is underway within twelve (12) months of the date of this
Resolution.
7 PASSED AND ADOPTED at a r~,ular meeting of the Tustin Planning Commission,
held on the 28th day of August, 1989.
