AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR INSTALLATION OF AN AUTOMATIC DOOR
MECHANISM FOR THE CITY HALL MAIN ENTRANCE (CIP NO. 1032)
SUMMARY
One bid for this project has been received and a construction contract is ready to be awarded to
Don La Force Associates, Inc. This project provides for the installation of an automatic door
mechanism for the City Hall main entrance.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council award the construction contract for the installation of an
automatic door mechanism for the City Hall main entrance (CIP No. 1032) to Don La Force
Associates, Inc., the Iow and only bidder, in the amount of $5,850.00, and authorize the Mayor
and City Clerk to execute the contract documents on behalf of the City.
FISCAL IMPACT
The FY 2001/2002 Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budget for major building facilities (ClP No.
1032) provided adequate funds for this project. Those funds have been carried over into FY
2002~2003 proposed budget for the completion of this project.
DISCUSSION
Installation of an automatic door mechanism at the main entrance to City Hall is needed in order to
enhance the City of Tustin's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. One of the main
entrance doors will be modified to provide a push button to activate the opening of the doors
automatically.
The one and only bid was received and opened on July 8, 2002 as follows:
Don La Force Associates, Inc., Rancho Dominguez, CA ............... $5,850.00
Don La Force Associates, Inc.'s bid is 41% below the engineer's estimate of $10,000. The
references and the State Contractor's License for Don La Force Associates, Inc. have been
checked and are appropriate for the subject project.
