AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 157, ZONING ORDINANCE, AS
AMENDED. (ACCESSORY STRUCTURES).
4 The City Council of the City of Tustin California
5 hereby ordains as fol lows:
6 Section 1. Section 5.15 of Ordinance 157 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 5.15 ACCESSORY STRUCTURES

a) Accessory structures attached to a main building
9 shall be made structurally a part thereof, have a
common roof with said main building and shall comply
10 in all respects with the requirements of this ordin-
ance applicable to the main building.

b) Detached accessory structures shall be separated fron
12 all other structures on the same parcel by a minimum
of ten (10) feet.

c) Detached accessory structures, such as garages, car-
14 ports, laundry and recreation buildings, may be
constructed: on the front one-half (1/'2) of the lot;
!5 provided, however, that in any R-3 or R-4 District ·
no garage, carport, or laundry building openings
· 16 shall face an.abutting street.
17 d) The architectural style of all sides of accessory
buildings shall be compatible with the architectural
18 style of the main buildings.
19 e) Detached accessory structures may have a zero foot
side and rear yard property line setback if abutting
20 an adjoining structure on a separate ldt with a zero
foot setback or if the abutting lot is unimproved.
21 If an adjoining structure on a separate lot is con-
structed other than with a zero foot property line
22 setback, a minimum of three (3) feet shall be main-
25 tained between the structures.
f) All parking areas shall be so designed as to preclude
24 the necessity of automobiles backing into the street.
Wherep~rking spaces face a public alley or an access
25 easement, the right of use of which is dedicated to
the subject property, a minimum backup space of twent]
26 five (25) feet shall be provided from the end of the
spaces to the farthest side of the alley or access
27 easement.
28 g) All accessory structures shall be located a minimum o~
twenty (20) feet from street rights-of-way; provided,
~' 29 however, that accessory structures abutting a State
Highway, where no access is permitted, may have a zer~
50 feet setback.
31 h) Detached accessory structures constructed within five
(5) feet of any side or rear property line in an "R"
3~ District shall be enclosed by a soli& ~all on such

I side or sides; provided, however, that garages or
carports facing an alley or an access easement, the
2 right of use of which is dedicated to the subject
property, need not be enclosed on such side or sides
5 constructed within five (5) feet of a side or rear
property line if the minimum backup space is twenty-
~ five (25) feet from the carports or garages to the--
far side of the alley or access easement.
