RESOLUTION NO. 1851
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING AGENCY OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN, GRANTING A CONDITIONAL USE
PERMIT ON APPLICATION NO. U.P. 79-30, OF
MEDIX AMBULANCE SERVICE
The Planning Agency of the City of Tustin does hereby resolve as follows:
I. The Planning Agency finds and determines as follows:
A. That a proper application (U.P. 79-30) was filed on behalf of
Medix Ambulance Service for a Conditional Use Permit to allow~
a 24-hour ambulance service at 661 West First Street.
B. That a public hearing was duly called, noticed, and held on
said application.
C. That establishment, maintenance and operation of the use applied
for will not, under the circumstances of this case, be detri-
mental to the health, safety, morals, comfort or general welfare
of the persons residing or working in the neighborhood of such
proposed use, evidenced by the following findings:
1. The subject site is mostly surrounded by commercial uses.
2. There is adequate ingress and egress at the corner of Myrtle
and West First Street.
3. The requested use will be housed in a portion of an existing
medical building which is located in the Commercial General
District.
D. ~nat the establishment, maintenance and operation of the use
applied for will not be injurious or detrimental to the property
and improvements in the neighborhood of the subject property, nor
to the general welfare of the City of Tustin, and should be granted.
E. Proposed development shall be in accordance with the development
policies adopted by the City Council, Uniform Building Codes as
administered by the Building Official, Fire Code as administered
by the orange County Fire Marshal, and street improvement re-
quirements as administered by the City Engineer.
F. That this project is categorically exempt from the requirements of
the California Environmental Quality Act.
II. The Planning Commission hereby grants a Conditional Use Permit as
applied for, to allow for a 24-hour ambulance service at 661 West First
Street, subject to the following conditions:
1. That the applicant will take all steps necessary to mitigate
any adverse effects of audio-visual interference caused by
radio transmission or reception as related to this use, and
that the applicant shall be financially responsible for any
such interference.
2. That the use of sirens shall be limited to emergency cases,
and in all instances shall not be turned on until the emergency
vehicle reaches the intersection of First and Mytle.
3. That a sign plan in conformance to Ordinance #684 shall be
submitted for review and approval prior to the erection of
any signs.

4. That emergency vehicles at the site shall be limited to two (2)
vehicles, which shall be parked in designated lo6ations in
the parking lot directly north of the building.
5. That no major maintenance or repair of vehicles shall take
place at the site.
6. That the vehicle's radio shall not be on while the vehicle is
parked at the site.
7. Metal trash containers shall be provided. Oily rags and other
similar waste materials shall be kept in metal receptacles
with tight fitting lids as per Uniform Fire Code 27.201.
8. That a smoke detector be provided in the sleeping quarters.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Planning Agency, held on
