The specifications for the program have been prepared and the project is now ready to bid. This project will provide for maintenance of existing citywide striping/pavement markings and installation of new striping/pavement markings at various locations. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 02-75 approving the specifications for the Annual Striping/Pavement Marking Program for Fiscal Years 2002~2003 thru 2006/2007 and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids. FISCAL IMPACT The proposed program budget for FY 2002~03 is $125,700.00. Adequate funds are budgeted on an annual basis from the Public Works Department operating account No. 402-6230 for this program. BACKGROUND The City's Striping/Pavement Marking Program is an annual program that provides for the repainting of existing striping/pavement markings and also the installation and removal of striping/pavement markings. The program provides for repainting on a case-by-case basis as determined by the field condition of the striping/pavement markings. The current contract was a multi-year (four year) contract that will expire on August 1, 2002. It is appropriate to re-bid the contract at this time. The Engineering Division has prepared specifications for this program and is proposing another four-year contract with each year renewable based upon satisfactory performance by the contractor. The contract prices will be adjusted annually based upon the Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustment.
