RESOLUTION NO. 1576
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN, APPROVING USE PERMIT 76-30, AUTHORIZING
A POLE SIGN FOR TItE PROPERTY AT 14192 NEWPORT AVENUE
The Planning Commission of the City of Tustin does hereby
resolve as follows:
1. The Planning Commission finds and determines as follows:
a. That a proper application (Use Permit 76-30) was
filed by Soda Shoppes of California, to allow the
construction of a free standing pole sign for the
property located at 14192 Newport Avenue.
b. That a public hearing was duly called, noticed and
held on said application.
c. That the construction, maintenance, and operation
of a free standing pole sign will not, under the
circumstances of this case, be detrimental to the
health, safety, morals, or comfort of.~ersons re-
siding or workin~ in the neighborhood nor injurious
or detrimental to the property and improvements
in the neighborhood of the subject property, nor to
the general welfare of the City of Tustin, and
should be granted.
d. That the entire building is located on one parcel
and thereby is entitled by provision of Sign
Ordinance #684 to request use of one pole sign.
e. A request for a Negative Environmental Impact Report
has been made and is hereby granted on the finding
of an insignificant impact of a 45 sq. ft. sign
proposal.
2. The Planning Commission hereby approves Use Permit'
76-30 to authorize the construction of a pole sign,
45 Sq. ft. in area and 14 ft. in height to be located
at 14192 Newport Avenue in accordance with the sub-
mitted plans on file with the records of the City,
subject to compliance with the criteria of' the Sign
Code (Ordinance No. 684), to include certification of
lighting intensity not to exceed 425 ~ soft cool white
lamps of not less than 10" on centers and sub.ject to
the following conditions:
a. Submittal of plans with sign cabinet and pole cover
design more in keeping with that of the building
to staff's satisfaction.
b. 1/3 of the sign area be allocated for use of the
second business at such time as free standing
signing identity is requested. The final design
should incorporate construction features which
would facilitate the easy alteration of that portion
designated for use by others.
c. Application for the sign be made by the owner of
the building and subject to his control, with the
additional provision that subsequent tenants or
other tenants should have equal access to said
sign. ing.

d. 'The use of a pole sign shall be in lieu of any
'front wall identification per Ordinance #684.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Planning
Commission of the City of Tustin, California, held on. the 13th
day of December, 1976. '7
