HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC RES 15631 2 10' 11 12 13 14 .15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 3O 31 32 RESOLUTION NO. 1563 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN RECOMMENDING AGAINST AN AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN (AMENDMENT 76-2(F) RELATIVE TO AN AREA OF LAND ON THE NORTH SIDE OF 2ND STREET BETWEEN PACIFIC AND "A" STREETS The Planning Conunission of the City of Tustin does hereby resolve as follows: 1. The Planning Commission finds and determines as follows a. That Section 65356.1 of the Government Code of the State of CalifornJ. a provides that when it is deemed %0 be in the public interest, the legislative body may amend a part of the General Plan. That in accordance with Section 65356 of the Government Code of the State of California, a publi hearing was duly advertised and held on September 13 and October 11, 1976 on the application of Betty -Hannaford Meek et al to consider General Plan Amendment 76-2 (F) to reclassify the properties on the north side of Second Street between p. acific and "A" Streets from Single-family to Multi-f~mily Residential. b. That an Environmental Impact Report for the re- quested change was prepared and recommended by the Planning Commission on September 13, 1976 to the City Council for certification. c. Th'at the proposed development plan submitted in connection with this request for a change in class,. fication did not indicate sufficiently limited density and quality of development to assure pre- servation of the character of the adjoining area consistent with the goals and objectives of the City. d. That based on the potential for development, the proposed change in classification would not be in the public interest and might be detrimental to the welfare of the public or surrounding property owners. 2. The Planning Commission hereby recommends to the City Council denial of General Plan Amendment 76-2 (F) to amend the Land Use Element to reclassify the area of land on the north side of Second Street between "A" Street and Pacific Street. The Planning Commission further recommends hi]at the .property remain in a single family classification until such time as a development proposal is submitted that assures the preservation of the character of the adjoining area and said plan is consistent with the City with limited density and quality development. PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City of Tustin Planning Commission held on the 8th day of November, 1976.
