HomeMy WebLinkAboutSPEAKER LETTER & PICTURES 09-05-06My name is; Gabriel F. Can`' Septe; ;r 5, 2006 Beiore I retired I owned and managed INTERNATIONAL TOOL AND ENGINEERING for 18 years I had an average of 60 Employees. Now I live in Tustin Village Mobil Home Park Mr. Mayor Last time that I addressed this Council, myself as well as the other residents of Tustin Village Mobil Home Park, we were terribly disappointed when you so emphatically said and I quote I will never approve of rent Control, in Tustin, because I have Rental Property and I don't want anyone telling me how much to charge. Mr. Mayor We could not believe that your PERSONAL INTEREST had taken priority over the well being of the. TUSTIN VOTERS, especially us the elderly citizens. The harm done to us is a not a minor one, because of the outrageous rent increases several residents had to move out, some of them actually loosing the only place they had to live. There are 196 spaces for manufactured homes At the time Serra management took over. All the spaces were occupied. Now we have empty homes in the places of those who were forced to leave. Mr. Mayor we are greatly affected by a probable misunderstanding, since we don't believe that you are owner of a Mobil Home Park. If you are not an owner of a Mobil Home Park rent stabilization will not affect you personally. Mr. Mayor, Please reconsider your position. Since if you own apartments you are providing a building with maintenance and other amenities .While in our case we own our homes and the exorbitant price we are being charged is for apartments when we are only getting a small unimproved peace of dirt. The charVe is way out of proportion THIS IS WHY IN OUR PARK WE NEED RENT STABILIZATION AS THEY HAVE ON SEVERAL CALIFORNIA CITIES. To clarify this confusion We invite you ALL to come over and take a PERSONAL look at our situation, so you can compare apples with apples. And MAKE A FAIR AND WELL INFORMED DECITION Few weeks ago I personally delivered a similar letter for each one of you members of the City Council but, I NEVER GOT AN ASNWER Mr. Davert: We hope this time, you look after the needs of your constituents instead of the unfair profits of an Outside Corporation.
