RESOLUTION NO. 1371
RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY
COUNCIL ACTION TO RESOLVE THE ENERGY CRISIS.
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin Planning Commission has
been made aware of a pending crisis in the production and dis-
!tribution of electrical energy caused by difficulties in obtain-
ing fuel and limitations on the expansion of generating facilities
and
WHEREAS, the prognosis indicates that under certain
circumstances, the ~curtailment and interruption of electric
services could become a reality in 1974 and critical consequences
of brown outs and/or black outs may well be a reality within the
next few years; and
WHEREAS, the quality of life for the residents of the
community is predicated upon the conveniencies of heat, light
and energy, and the protection of life and property are depend-
ent upon the availability of electrical energy, and
WHEREAS, the availability of electrical energy in the
future is dependent upon the coordination, developmental pro-
posals, and actions of numerous public and private agencies
related to generating capacities and sources of fuel;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning
Commission does hereby recommend to the City Council that
1. In conjunction with the Southern California Edison
Company, the City of Tustin establish a desire~
priority for the continuation of electric service
in the event of necessary curtailment of services
to assure a priority alloca~ion of electric energy
to those activities affecting public health and
welfare, and ~
2. Ail affected public and private agencies be petitioned
to initiate necessary actions to preclude the adverse
consequences of a lack of electrical energy and pro-
mote energy production in a manner consistent with
the goals of a protected environment in the total
public interest.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Planning Commission of the
City of Tustin at a regular meeting held on the 8th day of
October, 1973.
