CITY OF TUSTIN GRANTING A VARIANCE ON APPLICA-
TION NO. V-73-2 OF UNITED CALIFORNIA BANK

A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF TItE
CITY OF TUSTI}] Gt~,ANTING A VARIANCE ON APPLICA-
TION NO. V-73-2 OF UNITED CALIFORNIA BANK
The Planning Commission of the City of Tustin does hereby
resolVe as follows:
1. The Planning Commission finds and determines as fol-
lows:
a) That a proper application for variance (no.V-73-2
was filed on behalf of United California Bank for!
a variance to permit erection of a groundbased
monument identification sign, and to allow re-
placement of non-illuminated letters over the
entrance of the bank with two internally illumi- ~
nated name identification signs.
b) That a public hearing was duly called, noticed
and held on said 'application.
c) That because of special circumstances applicable
to the subject property, relative to the location!
of the bank, its relationship to Irvine Boulevard~
the existing landscaping, its placement and visi-!
bility within the shopping center, a strict appli?
cation of the Zoning Ordinance is found to de-
prive the subject property of privileges enjoyed
by other properties in the vicinity and under
identical zone classification.
d) That the granting of a variance as herein pro-
vided will not constitute a grant of special priv.
ilege inconsistent with the limitations upon
other properties in the vicinity and district in
which the subject property is situated.
e) That the granting of the variance as herein pro-
vided will not be contrary to the intent of the
Zoning Ordinance or the public safety, health
and welfare, and said variance should be granted.
f) Proposed development shall be in accordance with
the Uniform Building Codes as administered by
the Building Official, and Fire Code as adminis-
tered by the Fire Chief.
2. The Planning Commission herebY grants a variance as
·
applied for, to permit erection of a groundbased monument identi-
fication sign, and to allow replacement of non-illuminated letters
over the entrance of the bank with 2 internally illuminated name
identification signs, sUbject to the following stipulations:
a) That the monument 'sign be mounted upon a pedestal
consisting of bricks of a similar material and
composition as that on the facade of the adja-
cent bank, and

b) That the sign face of the monument sign be no
larger than 3'6" by 10'6", stand no higher than
5'6" above the grade of the adjacent sidewalk,
and consist of similar colors as that of the
existing bank logos, and
c) That the montLment sign be located two feet fro
the sidewalk, and at a point easterly of the
mid-point of the adjacent building wall, and
d) That the existing logo sign facing Irvine Boule-
vard be removed, and
e) That the existing logo signs at the bank entrance
not be illuminated, and
f) That illumination of all signs shall cease at
10 p.m. daily, and
g) That the size of the proposed name identification
signs at the entrances of the bank not exceed
1'6" by 20'.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeging of the Planning
Commission, held on the 9th day of April, 1973.
