HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC RES 1311RESOLUTION NO. 1311 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN RECOMMENDING AN AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO REQUIRE TWO (2) PARKING SPACES PER DWELLING UNIT IN THE PLANNED DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT The Planning Commission of the City of Tustin does hereby 'resolve as follows:- 1. The Planning Commission finds and determines: a) That a proper application has been initiated by the Planning Commission for an amendment to Ordinance No. 157 (The Zoning Ordinaqce), as amended by Ordin- ance No. 175, to establish the criteria of 2 park- ing spaces per unit in the Planned Development Dis- trict. b) That a public hearing was duly called,, noticed and held on said application. ¢) That an amendment should be .approved for the follow- ing reasons: 1) The purpose of the Planned Development District is to provide flexibility of design while re- taining the desirable residential characteris- tics of the single-family residence areas. 2) Two (2) parking spaces per residential u~it is required within the single-family residential areas and would be an appropriate amenity for condominium developments....and planned residen- tial areas. 3) Sta~istica'l reports for Southern California in- dicate a prevalence of two Cars per family unit, justifying the need for off-street parking accommodations. .~. 2. The Planning Commission hereby recommends to the City · Council approval of an amendment to Section 5.29, Ordinance No. '157: , _.. (The Zoning Ordinance) as amended by Ordinance No. 175 to read: Planned Development District (13) Off-Street Parking · ~otal parking shall be 2 spaces per uni~, with at least one covered space per unit.
