RESOLUTION NO. 1265
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN GRANTING A USE PERMIT ON APPLICATION NO.
UP-72-385, OF STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA
The Planning Commission of the City of Tustin'does hereby
resolve as follows:
1. The Planning Commission finds and determines as follow-~ '
a) That a proper application (No. UP-72-385)' was file
on behalf of the Standard Oil Company of California
for a USe Permit to allow the installation of two
replacement free-standing signs within 200' of the
Santa Ana Freeway, on the property described in
Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein
by this reference as though set forth herein in full.
b) That a public hearing was duly called, noticed and
held on said application;
c) That establishment, maintenance ~nd operation of
the use applied for will not, under the circumstances
of this case, be detrimental to the health, safety,
morals, comfort or general welfare of the persons
residing or working in the neighborhood of such
proposed use, evidenced by the following findings:
1) That two (2) free-standing signs have been in
existence for several years at this site;
2) That though an increase in overall sign height
is requested, there has been a substantial de-
crease in overall existing signing area; and
3) That subject service station site is located
within 200 feet of the Santa Ana Freeway.

d) That the establishment, maintenance and operation
of the use applied for will not be injurious or
detrimental to the property and improvements in the
neighborhood of the subject property, nor to the
general welfare of the City of Tustin, and should
·
be granted.
e) Proposed development shall be in accordance with the
development policies adopted by the City Council,
Uniform Building. Codes as administered'by the Build-
ing Official, Fire Code as administered by the Fire
Chief, and street improvements as administered by
the City Engineer.

f) Final development plans shall require the review and
approval of the Development Preview Commission.
2. The Pla]]ning Con~nission 'hereby grants a Use Permit, as
modified, to allow the installation of two replacement free-
standing signs within 20'0' of the Santa Ana Freeway subject .to
the following condition:

a) That all signing on this site, other than the
requested signing shall conform to the standards
for service stations as prescribed in the Sign
Ordinance.
·
b) The site shall be landscaped in accordance with
the minimum requirements of the Service Station
Policy Guide a.s reviewed and approved by the
Development Preview Commission.
c) The 53 square foot free-standing sign hereby
authorized shall have a maximum height of 18 feet
and the 315 square foot freeway identification
sign shall have a maximum height of ~ feet.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Planning
Commission, held on the 8th day of May, 1972.
