REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION TO
ESTABLISH A PRIVATE RECREATIONAL
FACILITY FOR GYMNASTICS WITHIN AN
EXISTING OFFICENVAREHOUSE BUILDING.
THIS PROJECT IS LOCATED AT 14761
BENTLEY CIRCLE IN THE PLANNED
COMMUNITY INDUSTRIAL (PC-IND) ZONING
DISTRICT.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning Commission adopt Resolution
No. 3842 approving Conditional Use Permit 02-
015.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2002, CITY COUNCIL
MEETING.
Director reported
The City Council approved Tentative Parcel Map 2002-
106.
The Housing Element has been postponed to October 7,
2002.
There will be a 75th anniversary commemoration on
September 16, 2002.
The Tustin Police Department is holding a prayer vigil at
the police memorial at 9:30 a.m. on September 11,2002,
to honor the victims of the attacks last year.
The Planning Officials Forum will take
November; flyers will be provided for the
Commissioners when received.

COMMISSION CONCERNS:
Congratulated Tustin Pride on their 10th anniversary; this
is a fine volunteer organization in the City.
Stated residents have expressed concern regarding stop
signs on Browning between Nisson and Walnut.
Stated this concern will be referred to the Traffic
Engineer for future response to the Commission.
Thanked staff for the workshop; and, stated his hope
there will be a joint workshop with the City Council in the
future.

Thanked staff for tonight's items, especially Christine
Shingleton and Dana Ogdon for the MCAS-Tustin
workshop.
Thanked Eloise Harris, the Recording Secretary, for the
new telephone cards and preparation of the Certificate
for Doug Davert.
Stated the monument sign on First Street near the 7-11
has several broken plastic panels.
Noted that the idea of a portal or gateway identification
for the Legacy project could be broadened to include
older sections of the City and Tustin Ranch in order to
unify all the areas; the MCAS-Tustin Reuse Plan might
provide that opportunity.
Provided material from the California Debt and Advisory
Commission regarding a "Tools to Revitalize California
Communities" conference on September 25, 2002,
which might be helpful for MCAS-Tustin, business and
job creation, affordable housing, Brownfield Sites, real
estate development, and financing programs.
ADJOURNMENT
The next regular meeting of the Planning Commission is
scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2002, at 7:00
p.m. in the Council Chamber at 300 Centennial Way.
