Miller Community Center 301 Main Street, Tustin 3:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. Desired Outcome: City Council direction on mission, vision, values, goals and strategies for the City of Tustin 1. Welcome and Introductions Purpose: Understand how the workshop will proceed • Brief statement from Mayor on the importance of the afternoon 2. Overview of the strategic planning process and desired outcomes Purpose: Establish a common understanding of the process, terminology and outcomes • PowerPoint presentation about the strategic planning process and important strategic plan elements 3. Review Environmental Scan and SLOT Analysis Purpose: Understand the current and future factors affecting Tustin • PowerPoint presentation of environmental scan, handout for SLOT 4. Review draft Mission, Vision, Values Purpose: Provide input on Tustin's mission (the organization's purpose, what it does); Tustin's vision (what the City should become in the future); and Tustin's values (what the City stands for in fulfilling its purpose and achieving its mission) 5. Communications and Accountability for the Strategic Plan Purpose: Hear ideas about how information about the strategic plan and its progress should be communicated to various stakeholders, including reporting mechanisms and frequency. Discuss implementation action plan 7. Review Next Steps • Management Partners will prepare a draft strategic plan, using notes from the workshop • City Manager and executive staff will review the draft strategic plan • Management Partners will facilitate a half -day workshop on September 10 with the City Manager and executive staff to develop the implementation action plan • City Manager and staff will present the draft Strategic Plan to the Council in late September /early October • The approved Strategic Plan and implementation action plan will be used to guide priorities and the allocation of resources for the immediate and future year budgets
