Christine Shingleton, Assistant Executive Director, reported
that in 1990, the Tustin Redevelopment Agency approved a request
for an Agency contribution of $50,000.00 toward design costs for
exterior elevation renovation of the Tustin Library to be
compatible with the City and Civic Center expansion programs.
The County of Orange informed the City that, because of State
budget cuts, funding was not available for the exterior
elevation renovation. She described the proposed City-paid
improvements including: paint library exterior; replace broken
roof tiles; repair library entry trellis; identification
signage; and light fixture installation. '
Agency/staff discussion followed regarding City ownership of
library building at lease expiration; clarificationof special
district (library) budget cuts; and $350,000.00 estimated cost
for complete renovation.
William Huston, Executive Director, stated funding options for
complete renovation included adjusting Redevelopment project
priorities and utilizing Redevelopment Agency funds, or
allocating monies from the General Purpose Capital fund.
Agency Member Saltarelli requested that, due to the relatively
low cost of complete renovation and to provide a consistent
architectural theme in the Civic Center, staff investigate
possible funding options for complete library renovation.
