1.CALL TO ORDER

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved b~ Hoestere~, seconded b~ Kennedy, to approve the ~nutes of
July 6, 1982. Carried ~0.
4. REQUEST FOR SIGNING (TUSTIN AREA MUSDEUM), 379 EL CAMINO REAL
~e staff re~rt was given by ~b Leaendecker, City Engineer~ as Contained
in his report ~ted July 9, ~982.
It was moved b~ Hoestere~, seconded b~ Saltarelli, to authorize the
installation of the "~stin ~ea Musem" do~l~faced Si~ in the amo~t
of $2,000.00 and staff to execute a Contract ~ange Order to ~e E1 C~ino
Real/~in Street Improvement Project to accomplish the s~e. Carried 5-0.

5. SELECTION OF STREET TREE FOR EL CAMINO REAL
Bob Ledendecker, City Engineer, 9ointed oat that ~ictures of the Western
Re~ad tree had ~en circulated to the Co~cil but staff was ~able to
obtain any ~ict~es of the tree in bloom.
Co~cil~n Saltarelli said that after looking at the tree, it was a
scra~y looking tree and he would not ~ in favor of taking do~ ~ce
trees for these trees.
It was moved by Greinke, seconded by Kennedy, to authorise the ~lanting of
the Western Re~ud tree at the northerly and southerly ends of E1 C~ino
Real as desired by the consultant landscape architect and that staff
plant the largest ~ees ~ssible.
Co~cilman Hoesterey said he would 9refer evergreens but ~uld vote in
favor of ~e motion.
Motion carried ~, Saltarelli opposed. 95
6. AWARD OF BID FOR EL CAMINO REAL/MAIN STREET IMPROVEMENTS
~e staff re~rt was given by Bob Ledendecker, City Engineer. ~e total
recomended contract award ~o~t is $~,20~,~4~.50, ~ich deletes Bid Item
No. 83 which is a cast iron street clock without chimes.
It was moved b~ Greinke, seconded by Kennedy, to award the contract for
s~ject project to R. J. Noble Co., Inc., of ~ange, ~, h ~e ~o~t of
$1,201,141,50.

In response to Mayor Edgar, the City Engineer said that the job should be~
completed 130 calendar days after the contract is signed-

7 · AGenCY CONCERNS
Mayor Pro Tem Kennedy asked about the use of metal plates to cover
trenches in the streets when work is in progress.
The City Engineer responded that metal plates are used on open trenches
that need to be left open for a few days. The trench referred to was dug
by Communicom.
8. ADJOURNMENT- It was moved by Greinke, seconded by Moesterey, to adjourn
at 4:13 P.M. to the next regular meeting on August 2, 1982. Carried 5-0.
