AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
FIXING AND DETERMINING THE AMOUNT OF REVENUE NECESSARY
TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN
THE CITY OF TUSTIN AND THE AMOUNT OF REVENUE NECESSARY TO
CARRY ON THE VARIOUS
DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY FOR THE
FISCAL YEAR 1958-1959.
follows:
The City Council of the City of Tustin does ordain as
Section T'. That it is hereby determined and decreed by
the City Council of the City of Tustin that the sum of $107,700-00
is the amount of revenue necessary to be raised in order to carry
on the various departments of the City of Tustin for the fiscal
year 1958-1959.
Section 2. That of said sum of $107,700.00, it is
anticipated that there will be received as income from various
sources
s other than through property tax levy, the sum of
$80,550.40, and that it will be necessary to raise $27,149.60
by tax levy upon the property within the City of Tustin.
Section 3. That the $107,700-00 so required by the
various departments of the City of Tustin'during the fiscal year
is distributed and budgeted as follows:
A. City Administration $21,000.00
The following items are to be paid
from the amount budgeted to this
account:
(1) Salaries of City Clerk, Deputy
Clerk, City Attorney, Auditor,
Treasurer, Planning Commission,
Building Inspector, City Council,
Janitor, and other clerical help.
(2) Utilities chargeable to City by
operation of City Hall.
(3) Insurance.
(4) Printing and publishing.
(5) Supplies.
(6) Dues of City for Miscellaneous
Municipal Organizations of which
the City of Tustin is a member.
(7) Annexation expenses.
(8) Capital outlay for equipment $11000.00
(9) Miscellaneous administrative expenses,
including Clerk's Petty Cash Fund and
building upkeep.
B. Fire Department $ 10,000.00
The following items are to be paid from
the amount budgeted to this account:
(1) Salaries paid to volunteer firemen.
(2) Upkeep and maintenance of the equipment.
(3) Cost of Water service.
(4) Capital outlay for equipment. 5,000.00
One-fifth of the amount budgeted to the Fire Department
is estimated to be used for the equipment, maintenance and water
standby charges occasioned by the use and operation of this
Department for traffic safety on major city streets and state
highways within the City of Tustin, and as such it is estimated
that one-fifth of the total expenditures of this Department will
be paid out of the Traffic Safety Fund, and the Treasurer is
hereby authorized to pay one-fifth of the money expended by
this department out of the Traffic Safety Fund.
C. Police Department
The following items are to be paid
from the amount budgeted to this account:
(1) Salaries of officers.
(2) Maintenance and upkeep of vehicular
equipment.
(3) Expenses for jail and prisoners.
(4) Salary of crossing guard.
(5) Capital outlay for equipment
(d) Miscellaneous expenses incident to
the above enumerated activities.

$ 1,500,00
The sum of $8,000.00 out of the above amount budgeted
to the Police Department will be taken from the Motor Vehicle
License Fund for Police salaries. Three-fourths of the expenses
expended for maintenance, upkeep and the purchase of new equip-
ment and supplies for the Police Department shall be taken from
the Traffic Safety Fund.
D. Street Department $ 42,700.00
The following items are to be paid from
the amount budgeted to this account:
(1) Salaries of the City Engineer, Street
Superintendent, truck.employees and
miscellaneous laborers.
(2) Construction, repair and maintenance
of streets, including the reconstruction
and improvement of certain city streets.
(3) Equipment upkeep and maintenance.
(4) Sewer survey project..
(5) Disposal Services.
Of the money so budgeted for this department, all of the
salary of the City Engineer and of the Street Superintendent, and
all of the moneys expended for the street y truck, ,:�and:;all :.of the
moneys expended for the repair, maintenance and construction of
major city streets shall be taken from the Traffic Safety Fund.
E. Parkways, Playgrounds and Trees 4,000.00
The following items are to be paid from
the amount budgeted to this account:
(1) Expenditures for recreation purposes.
(2) Expenditures for the maintenance of
and the beautifying of parks and park-
ways within the City of Tustin.
(3) Tree Maintenance.
Section 4. Of the expenses budgeted above, it is
estimated that one-fifth: of all administrative overhead will
be occasioned by the problems.created by traffic over the state
highways and major city streets, and that at the end of the fiscal
year it is the intention of the City Council by authority of this
resolution to charge to and pay twenty per cent (20%) of such
expenses out of the Traffic Safety Fund.
Unless otherwise indicated, the expenses budgeted in this
account shall be paid out of and chargeable to the General Fund
of the City of Tustin.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance, and shall cause the same to be published once
within fifteen days after its adoption in the Tustin News, a
weekly newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in the City of Tustin, and said Ordinance shall take
effect and be in full force immediately from and after its final
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Tustin at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of
August, 1958.

Council of the City of Tustin, California, does hereby certify
that the whole number of members of the City Council of the City
of Tustin is five, that the above and. foregoing Ordinance was
duly and regularly introduced at a regular meeting -of the City
Council of the City of Tustin held on the 4th day of August,
1958, and was duly passed and adopted at a regular meeting of
the City Council held on the 18th day of August, 1958, by the
following vote:

ABSENT: Councilmen; Tadlock & Bacon
