BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
At the April 5, 1999 City Council meeting, staff submitted a report to the City Council
identifying necessary Y2K planning activities and actions. In July 1999, staff commenced
providing monthly status reports to the City Council for all citywide'and outside agencies'
Y2K critical systems. The reports identified equipment that had been upgraded or the
timing for the upgrades.
On the evening of December 31, 1999, thirty-six police officers, the City Manager,
Assistant' City Manager and all Department Heads were at City Hall and at remote
locations. There was no disruption of city services, special calls for police service or
computer or power failures.
On January 3, 2000, the first full workday, all systems were fully operational. The City's
Y2K planning efforts and upgrades successfully alleviated potential problems.
