DISCUSSION
The following discussion highlights recent activities related to Census 2000.
Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) - Detailed Feedback/Final Determination
On February 1, 2000, the City received the Detailed Feedback/Final Determination materials for
the LUCA program. These materials indicated that the Census Bureau accepted 594 of the 1,188
address changes requested by the City of Tustin. During the month of February, City staff
reviewed the feedback materials. Because the Census Bureau rejected many of the address
changes, staff filed a written appeal with the Census Address List Appeals Office. The appeal
provides detailed justification to the Appeals Office for the requested address changes that were
not accepted by the Census Bureau.
Partnership and Promotion - Complete Count Committee
The City of Tustin is participating in the Government, Business and Media Working Group of the
County's Complete Count Committee.
Based on ideas shared at the complete count committee meetings, the Community Development
Department has implemented the following activities to promote Census 2000 in the City of Tustin:
· Placed an insert in City of Tustin water bills (to be mailed in March and April).
