HUSTON, CITY MANAGER VALERIE CRABILL, CHIEF DEPUTY CITY CLERK GRAD NIGHT FUNDING REQUESTS SUMMARY: The Grad Night Committees from Foothill High School and Tustin High School have submitted requests for funding assistance from the City Council. RECOMMENDATION: Authorize donations in the amount of $2,500 to the Grad Night Committees for Foothill High School and Tustin High School. BACKGROUND: The City has received the attached' letters from the Grad Night Committees of Foothill High School and Tustin High School requesting donations for their Grad Night events. In 1999, the City Council appropriated $2,500 to each of the schools and staff is recommending a similar amount be donated this year. Councilmember Saltarelli requested this item be agendized for City Council action. Grad Night is a safe and fun all night extravaganza where senior classmates will celebrate the past 12 years of school. Everything the seniors will need is provided for the pdce of a ticket. They will be supervised, fed, transported and entertained. This year's party will be held at Palace Park in Irvine. Grad night is a major event that requires months of planning, designi~ and manufacturing using thousands of dollars. Our goal is to produce a safe and' once in a lifetime celebration for the high school seniors of our community. We need your help. In past years you have generously donated $2,500. Thank you for your consideration in making a donation this year for Foothill High School Grad Night 2000. I will be attending the April 3, 20.00 Council Meeting to address any questions the Council may have.
