ORDINANCE NO- 74
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN
REGULATING THE USE OF PUBLIC HIGH -
"WAYS WITHIN SAID CITY, AND AMENDING
ORDINANCE N0.
6 OF THE CITY OF
TUSTIN
The City Council of the City of Tustin do ordain as
Section 1. Section 1 of Article 1 of Ordinance No. 6
of the City of Tustin is hereby amend4d to read as follows:
Section 1: All terms used in this
Ordinance shall be deemed and construed to have
the meaning ascribed to them in the Vehicle Codd Of
California as enacted by the Legislature of the State of
California as Chapter 27 of the Statutes of 1935, as amended.
Section 2.. The Council of the pity of Tustin may be
resolution exercise any of the rights, powers, privileges or
authority granted to them under the provisions of Division 9 of
the Vehicle Code of the State of California, by resolution duly
passed and adopted by said Council.
Section 3: All police officers of the pity of Tustin
are hereby given liT,-e powers and authority with members of the
California Highway Patrol as provided in the Vehicle Code of the
State of California, for the regulation of traffic and travel on
highways within the City of lustin) and such police officers shall
by voice, hand or other signal, direct all traffic within said
city.
Section 4. Section 3 of Article 11 of Ordinance No. 6
of the `ity of - �ustin is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 3. The Superintendent of Streets
of the City of Tustin.,8hall have power and duty to place and
maintain signs in conformity with the provisions of this ordinance
and the Vehicle code) as directed by resolution of the Council of
the City of Tustin.
No provision of this ordinance for which signs are
required shall be enforceable ag4inst the alleged violator if at
the time and place of the alleged violation the sign herein re-
quired is not in proper position and sufficiently legible to be
seen.by an ordinany observant person.
Section 5. Section S of Article II of Ordinance No. 6
of the "ity of Tustin is hereby amended to* read as follows:
Section 8. Notwithstanding any other section of

this Ordinance, the provisions.of this Ordinance
shall not apply to any authorized emergency vehicle
or any other vehicle actually engaged in the
Per—
formance of emergency duties being performed by
public authorities.
Section 6. Section 30 of Articel Vof. '-Ordinance No. 6
of the City of Tustin is amended to read as follows:
Section 30. It shall be unlawful for the
operator of any vehicle, and for the registered

owner of any vehicle, to permit said vehicle to
be parked on any street for a period of time
longer than twelve consecutive hours in the
same place.
Section 7. The Chief of Police or the Street Superintendent
may cause to be removed and stored, attheexpense of the
registered owner, any vehicle which may have been parked or left
;f standing upon any street or highway in the City of Tustin for 120
or more consecutive hours,. in accordance with the provisions of
Sec. 585.1 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, as
amended.
Section 8. All streets included within the city limits
of the City of Tustin may be hereafter specified, by resolution
of this councilor, as being in Central Traffic District t'i; or
Central Traffic District "B", or Central Tra`'fic District "C",
and all such streets; as are hereafter, by resolution, designated
as "through streets," shall be through streets in accordance with
the provisions of the Vehicle Code.
Section 9. (a) It shall be unlawful for the operator of
a vehicle to stop said vehicle for a period of time longer,than
two hours bet*een the hours of 7:00 O'clock a.. m. and 6:00 O'clock
p.m. of any day, except Sundays and holidays, within Central
Traffic District "A'"
(b) It shall be unlawful foit the operator of any
vehicle to stop said vehicle and leave the same so parked for
per odd of time longer than one hour between the hours of 7:00
o'clodk a.m. and 6:00 o'clock p.m. of any day, exdept Sundays
and holidays, within Central Traffic District „'�.

c) It shall be unlawful for the operator of a
vehicle to stop said vehicle and leave the same so paTked for a
II period of time longer than 20 minutes between the -hours of 7:00
o'clock a.m. and 6:00 o'clock p.m. of any day, except Sundays
and holidays, within Central Traffic District
(1) Central Traffic District 110 shall be

designated by painting the curbs green within such
district.
Section 10. The Superintendent of Streets may paint
cubbs the following colors for the purposes specified at such
places as he deems necessary for the orderly conduct and regulation
of traffic:
(a) RED, which indicates no stopping) standing or
parking; whether the vehicle is attended or unattended, except
that a bus may stop in a RED one marked or sign—posted alt W1,
"Bus Loading Zone."
(b) YELLOW, which indicates stopping only for the
purpose of loading or unloading passengers I or freight for a period
of time not in excess of twenty minutes;
(c) WHITE, which indicates stopping only for load—
ing or unloading of passengers for a period of time not in excess
of five minutes.
Provisions (b) and (c) of this section shall not be -
effective on Sundays and holidays, or between the -hours of 6:00
O'clock p1m. and 7:00 a -m -
Section 11. That all ordinances which conflict with
this ordinance be, and the same are hereby, repealed.
Section 12. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in
the Tustin News, a weekly newspaper -of geneTal ciTdulation, printed,
published and circulated in the City of Tustin, Orange County,
California; and said Ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect thirty (30) days from the date of it"s final
passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Oouncil of the wity of
Tustin, at its regular meeting held on the 7th day of June, 1049.
