HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS- WELL SITE FACILITIES UPGRADES (Project No. 6077) SUMMARY This action' consists of the acceptance of work and authorization of recordation of the Notice of Completion for the Well Site Facilities Upgrades (Project No. 6077). RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Tustin City Council adopt Resolution No. 00-62 accepting said work and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion, and direct the City Clerk to: 1. Release the Labor and Materials Bond not sooner than thirty-five (35) days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion; and 2. Release the Faithful Performance Bond not sooner than one year after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion; and Assuming no other claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that the City Council authorize payment of the retention amount thirty-five days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion. The amount of retention currently being held equals $58,613.22. This amount together with previous payments of $527,519.95 represents 100% of the final contract cost. FISCAL IMPACT The final cost of the contract is $586,133.27. The 1999/00 budget allocated a total of $1,194,516 for this project, which included preliminary design, final design, and construction phase services. BACKGROUND The construction of the well site facilities upgrades was budgeted as a Water Capital Improvement Program project and is one of the Phase III projects to be constructed under the Program Management Contract with ASL consulting Engineers. City Project No. 6077 consists of the replacement of the electrical equipment at the Beneta, Pankey, Prospect, Tustin Avenue, Walnut and Yorba Well sites and the implementation of automated chlorination at the Yorba and Walnut Well sites. Completion of these improvements have enhanced safety at the existing sites, improved the electrical reliability and enabled the maintenance of a chlorine residual throughout the distribution system for the protection of public health. Serlet Di~'ector of Public Works/City Engineer TDS:JS:ccg:Final accept well site facilities upgrades & Reso #00-62 Attachment ate~'~v~lla "r Services Manager i6 i9 20 2! 26 25 RESOLUTION NO. 00-62 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA ACCEPTING THE WORK OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR WELL SITE FACILITIES UPGRADES- PROJECT NO. 6077 WHEREAS, Olsson Construction having a contract with the City Council to provide the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement is found to be complete, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Well Site Facilities Upgrades, Project No. 6077 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance_ of said public work and improvement described herein as required by law.
