ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE NOTICE
OF COMPLETION FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS,
PROSPECT AVENUE, SEVENTEENTH STREET AND NEWPORT AVENUE
(CIP NOS. 6141,6142 AND 6087)
SUMMARY
The water main replacement work for Prospect Avenue, Seventeenth Street and Newport Avenue
has been completed and the projects are ready for City Council acceptance.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Tustin City Council adopt Resolution No. 00-66 accepting said work as
complete and authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion and direct the City Clerk to:

1. Release the Labor and Materials. Bond not sooner than thirty-five (35) days after the date of
recordation of the Notice of Completion; and
2. Release of Faithful Performance Bond not sooner than one year after the date of recordation of
the Notice'of Completion; and
Assuming no claims or Stop Notices are filed, it is further recommended that 35 days after the date of
recordation of the Notice of Completion the City Council authorize payment of the final 10% in the
amount'of $82,763.34 to Steve Casada Construction Co., inc. This amount together with the previous
payments of $744,870.01 represents 100% of the final contract cost.
FISCAL IMPACT
The final construction cost was $827,633.35 and sufficient funds were allocated in the 2000-2001
Capital Improvement Program budget for these projects.
BACKGROUND
This project consists of the replacement of old and deteriorated water mains on Prospect Avenue from
Seventeenth Street to Santa Clara Avenue; Seventeenth Street from the existing Desalter Plant to
Newport Avenue; and Newport Avenue from Kenyon Drive to Edinger Avenue.

RESOLUTION NO. 00-66
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
ACCEPTING THE WORK OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING
RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR WATER MAIN
REPLACEMENT PROJECTS, PROSPECT AVENUE, SEVENTEENTH STREET
AND NEWPORT AVENUE (CIP NOS. 6141, 6142, AND 6087)

and
WHEREAS, Steve Casada Construction Co., Inc. having a contract with the
of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement;
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and
completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner
satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said
public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the
provisions of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance
of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due
said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Tustin that said public work and improvement is found to be complete, and the same
is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described
as follows:
Water Main Replacement Projects, Prospect Avenue, Seventeenth Street
and Newport Avenue, (CIP Nos. 6141, 6142, and 6087)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is
hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of
said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Tustin, held on the 16th day of October 2000.
