SUBJECT:
WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
APPEAL OF PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVAL OF ADMINISTRATIVE
ADJUSTMENT 00-001 AND DESIGN REVIEW 00-024
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council continue the public hearing on the appeal until January 15, 2001.
DISCUSSION
On September 25, 2000, the Planning Commission approved Design Review 00-024 and
Administrative Adjustment 00-001. This project is a request to install fencing and
pedestrian gates at the Tustin Ranch Estates residential development. The Planning
Commission approved the project on September 25, 2000 with conditions that required the
applicant to maintain unlocked pedestrian gates and relocate one of the fences to
minimize visual impacts.
On September 29, 2000, the Tustin Ranch Estates Maintenance Association (TREMA)
appealed the Planning Commission's decision. The appeal was scheduled to be heard on
November 20, 2000, however, the TREMA has requested a continuance of the appeal
hearing until January 15, 2001 (Attachment A).
A public notice was published in the paper on November 9, 2000, however, due to the
continuance request, no notices were mailed to property owners within 300 feet of the
project and the notice was not posted at City Hall or the project site.
Staff recommends that the City Council continue the public hearing on the appeal until
January 15, 2001.
