911 cell phone program
The Kiwanis Club of Yorba Linda is currently collecting cell phones for use in a 911-cell
phone program. The object of this program is to collect cell phones that are no longer in
service (old models or simply not in service), refurbish them and distribute them to
people in need of a phone to use in an emergency situation.
Motorola is co-sponsoring this program. They re-program and activate the cell phone (at
no cost) to dial 911 when any button is pressed. Currently, phones have been issued to
the elderly, people with health problems and victims of violent crimes.
On behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Tustin, we would like to request that the Tustin Police
Department join this effort and donate any cell phones that are no longer in use or that are
available from the Property Section.
Currently, the Property Section has (7) cell phones that are available for donation to this
worthy program.
Thank You,
Lt. Joe Garcia
