The current position about the airport is really curious... "to continue to study". This is really
disturbing. The situation, via Measure F, is the airport has been rejected by the voters of
Orange County by a margin of 2 to 1.
Ok, but let's take a look at the current situation. The management incompetence by the county
just continues, and continues and continues... An example, The 3/18, Register reviews the
CABACO report of losses caused by the lack of direction from the county "officials".
Additionally, the action by the El Toro Reuse Planning Authority (ETRPA) to scuttle the transfer
of the alcohol license for the Officer's club validates the argument that the county is indeed
trying to sink even efforts to maintain the facility.
Now, please note the CABACO management estimated a profit of $400,000 (this is not to be
confused the toll road projection techniques of the county). In fact, the numbers are now a
projected loss of ($240,000), from the projected positive of $400,000 - A swing of $640,000
difference!
Obviously, the county "chief executive officers", supervisors, and the project managers are
waiting for direction to come from the voters, who have voted to stop the airport spending.
They are "unavailable". Those of us who have worked in industry understand what needs to be
done. Boeing, Ford or the LA Times employees know first hand about painful action, but the
answer is cutback on costs. The steps to be taken:
1) Get the liquor license delivered to the O club, get the club operational and profitable and able
to support the facility, and
2) Should the vast Orange county public servant structure still does not grasp the sequence - I
suggest they contact the Iridium LLP and ask for direction. Iridium, is now tasked with closing a
$5 billion, bankrupt organization. Failed due to the lack of CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE.
