RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 99-98 renaming "Bruno Drive" to "Bruns
Drive".
BACKGROUND
In July 1999, the Community Development Department received a request to rename
"Bruno Drive" to "Bruns Drive" to honor John Bruns, a Tustin High School Class of 1949
graduate and Korean War casualty. On November 1, 1999, the City Council approved
the renaming of "Bruno Drive" to "Bruns Drive" and directed staff to prepare a resolution
to codify their action.
DISCUSSION
Following the Council's action at the last meeting, staff contacted the Tustin Post Office
regarding the name change to facilitate a smooth transition for affected residents. A
representative of the Postal Service indicated that the carrier whose route includes
Bruno/Bruns Drive is aware of the name change and will continue to deliver mail
addressed to either "Bruno Drive" or "Bruns Drive".
To further facilitate the name change, staff will send a letter and copy of the executed
resolution to the fOllowing agencies:
Government Agencies (County of Orange Board of Supervisors, Assessor's Office,
Surveyor's Office, Environmental Management Agency, Sheriff, and Fire Authority,
Tustin and Irvine Unified School Districts, and Federal Environmental Management
Agency, etc.);
