HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 26 (1930)FF ORDINANCE NO. 26 00000 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, FIXING AND DETERMINING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY ASCE+"RTAINED TO BE NECESSARY TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTIVENTS OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, FOR THE CJRRENT TEAR 1930-1931, AND FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR THE CURRENT YEAR 1930-1931, yESIGNATING THE NUMBER OF CEilS flN EACH $100.00 ON THE WHOLE OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY OF SAID CITY A3 SET BY THE COUNTY ASSESSOR OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE, AND EQUAL- IZED BY THE BOARD OF S'.'.eERVISORS OF SAID COUNTY, AND HEREBY LEVIED UPON THE WHOLE OF THE TAXABLE ZROPERTY OF SAID CITY. The Board of Trustees and amity Council of the City of Tustin, California, do ordain as follows, to -wit: That Whereas, the pity of Justin, California, did on the 30th day of January, 1928, by Ordinance elect and determine to avail itself of the provisions of the Act of the 27th day of laarchv 1895, as contained in the Statutes of 1895, page 219, Chapter 182, and as subsequently amended, relative to the assessment and collection ,of taxes for Municipal corporations, and did in accordance therewith on or about said date ,file with the County Auditor of urange I-ounty, Oalifornia, a certified copy of said Ordinance, being Ordinance No. 7 of said uity'of rustic., as provided by law; And whereas, the said jtsoard of Trustees and Lity Council of the City of 'iustin, California, desires to continue the collection of its taxes in the man-.aer provided in said ordinance no. 7; And Whereas, the County auditor of the 0ounty of Orange, State. of ualifornia, on or about the 4th day of August, 1930, filed his statement in writing with the City Clerk and .hoard of Prustees of the City of xustin, California, showing the total value of all t property within the corporate limits of the said Oity for the year 1930-1931, as equalized and collected by the Doard of Supervisors of v,range Oounty, California, and fixed the sum as shown by.the assessment rolls for said year at V606,800.00, exclusive of operative property; and whereas the amount of money ascertained and fixed as necessary to be raised by taxation, to carry on the MW various departments of the City of Austin, and to pay the bonded indebtedness falling due for the current year 1930-1931, is the fixed sum of §8,291.80; and whereas, said sum is to be apg*rtioned.among the various departments of said Uity of Tustin, and placed in the general special funds to pay current municipial expenses on the assessed value of all the real and personal property within such municipality over and above the several sums to be raised as provided by law. SECTION 1. That the total valuation of the taxable property of the City of Tustin, exclusive of operative property, to -wit, $606,800.00, shall be used as.a basis for the levy of the taxes of the Uity of Tustin, Ualifornia, at the same time and in the same manner County levies are made and collected. SECTION'2. That the rate of taxation for the municipal purposes and.to pay the bonded indebtedness and interest of the City of Tustin, I-alifornia, for the current year 1930-1931 is hereby fixed at §1.35, on the taxable property of said city, and that ,said amount of p8,291.80,in the aggregate, and the rate.sum of §1.35, on each plOO.00 of the taxable property of said city is hereby levied upon all the taxable property of said City as ascertained by thav ounty =assessor and equalized by the Board of supervisors of Urange Uounty, ualifornia, as aforesaid, and which said rate so -fixed -shall be appVrtioned among special funds to pay the current expenses, bonded indebtedness, and interest and - other indebtedness of said Uity falling due for the current fiscal year -1930-1931, as follows, to -wit; For the General rund 41.00 on each 4100.00 of the taxable property of said Uity. For the Municipal Improvement bonds of 1930 bonded indebtedness rund, 4.35 on each §100.00 of the taxable property of said Uity. SECTION 3. This Ordinance is an urgency measure and is necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of the residents of the said amity of Tustin, and shall take effect immediatelyafter its adoption and publication; the following is a statement of the facts constituting such urgency; it is required by the laws of the otate of Ualifornia that the city i Council shall fix and determine.the tax rate and make.a.levy thereof jon or before the last ''uesday in August of each year, and in order to provide funds for the City for the current year it is necessary that said Urdinance take effect immediately. SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby instructed to submit and deliver a certified copy of this ordinance to the County California � Auditor of orange ounty, , on or before the 1st day of September, 1930. SECTION 5. she City Clerk shall cause this Urdinance to be published once in "The Austin hews", a weekly newspaper, printed and circulated and published in the City of Tustin, California, and thereupon it shall immediately take effect and be in force. 1, J. i.
