AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPOIN214ENT OF A CITY
ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AND PRESCRIBING HIS DUTIES: ADOPTING BY
REFERENCE A CODE TO BE KNOWN AS THE ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN PROVIDING FOR ELECTRIC PERMITS AND ?NSPECTIONS
AND FIXING THE FEES THEREFORE; REGULA'ING THE INSTA"LATION,
ARRANGEMENT, AL''`ERATION, REPAIR, USE, MAINTENANCE AUD OPERA-
TION OF ELkLTRIC '01IRING, ELECTRIC FIXTURES, AND OTHER ELECTRIC
APPLIANCES AND EQUIPMENT IN `'HE CITY OF TUSTIN: PROVIDING THE
PENALTY FOR A VIOLATION OF THE SAME AND REPEALING ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THTIS ORDINANCE.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, KNOWN AS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN, DO ORDAIN AS FOLL1033:
SECTION 1. CITY ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR QUALIFICATIONS:
There is hereby created and established the office of
City Electrical Inspector. The person chosen to fill the office
of City Electrical Inspector shall be a competent electrician of
good moral character, and shall have had at least four years
experience as a journeyman in the practice of his trade or its
equiyalcnt,. such as two years training in a recognized college
of electrical engineering, and in addition thereto, two years
of practical experience in electrical ennstruction, shall be
well versed in approved methods of electrical construction for
safety to life and property, the statutes of the State of
California relating to electrical work,,the rules and regulations
issued by the Department of industrial Eelations of the State
of California under the authority of the statutes, the National
Electrical Code, other installtion and safety rules and standards
approved by the American 4tandards Association and rules of the
Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific. The City Llectrical
Inspector may hold membership in the Association of Electrical
Inspectors in which he may be entitled to membership and may
serve on any electrical committee of this Association td Which
he may be appointed.
SECTION 2. APPOINTP,?ENT, ETC., Said City Electrical Inspector
shall be appointed by the ]iayor by and with the advise and consent
of the City Uouncil. He shall receive a salary as determined by the
Cityy Council, and before enteringupon the discharge of his duties,
shall file a bond in the sum of ive Hundred (500.00) Dollars,
payable to the pity of Tustin, said Bond to be approved by the
City Clerk and conditioned upon the faithful performance of his
duties. she City Electrical Inspector shll also take and subscribe
an oath which together with the certificate of his appointment shall
be filed with the City clerk. It shall be unlawful for the city
Electrical Inspector to engage in the business of the installation
snd the maintenance of electric wiring, electric devises and electric
material either directly or indirectly and he shall have no financial
interest in any concern engaged in such business in the amity of
Tustin at any tiMe while holding office of pity -Electrical inspecter.
she City Electrical inspector shall appoint,, by and with the advise
and consent of the City Council, such assistant inspectors as are
deemed necessary.
SECTION 3. ADOP`T`ION OF CODE OF RULES AYD REGULATIONS. That
three copies of a code in bound form establishing rules and regu
lati'ons for the installation of electric wiring, electrical permits
and inspections, installation of electric equipment or fixtures,
and other regulations appurtenant thereto in the City of Tustin,
have heretofore been filed with the Clerk of the City of Tustin,
and said Code is hereby adopted and made a part of this Ordinance
by reference, the same as though the same were set forth in full
herein.

SECTION 4., PENALTY FOR VIDLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. That
any person, firm or corporation, who shall violate any provision
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine of not
more than three Hundred Dollars (300.00) or by imprisonment in
the County Jail of the County of Orange, for not more than ninety
(90) days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 5. CONSTITUTIONAL DECLARATIOTT. If any section,
subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for
any reason held to be unconstitutional, such decision shall not
_ effect the validity of the remaining portion of this ordinance. The
City Council of theCity of Tustin hereby declare that -it would have
passed this Ordinance, and each section, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase thereof irrespective of the fact that any one or
more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be de-
clared unconstituional.
SECTION 6. ORDINANCLS REPEALED.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance, be, and the same are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 7. eASSAGE OF ORDINANCE. That the City Clerk shall
certify to the passage of this Ordinance and cause the same to
be published three times in the Tustin News, a weekly newspaper
printed and published in the Uity of Tustin, and thirty days after
its final passage said ordinance shall take effect and be in force.

was regularly introduced at a meeting of the city Uouncil held
the 18th day of March, 1929, and was duly passed and adopted
at.an adjourned regular meeting of the City Uouncil held on the
lst day of duly, 1929, by the following vote, to -wit:

NOES: TRUSTEES: NONE.
