FISCAL IMPACT:

CIP ($185,000) and an Urban Park and Recreation Grant ($100,000) from the County of Orange.
BACKGROUND'
A community based committee reviewed initial concepts and designs for improvements. After four
meetings they provided recommendations to the Parks & Recreation Commission. On April 15th
the Commission provided preliminary comments and review on the design elements presented. At
the May 20th Commission meeting all amenities and design changes were approved in conjunCtion
with the Senior Advisory Board.
The project will provide for the demolition and construction of restroom facilities at Peppertree and
Magnolia Tree Parks. All facilities are designed to meet ADA guidelines. To take advantage of the
economics of scale, the two projects are being bid together.
In addition to an enlarged restroom facility, the project at Peppertree Park includes several other
related improvements. A multi-purpose raised band shell structure is proposed to provide a
performance area for the summer concert series and other special events. The structure can also be
used as a picnic shelter.
