HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER DIVISION AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 'WELL SITE FACILITIES UPG1LSI)ES (CITY PROJECT NO. 600077) SUMMARY This action is a request for authorization to award a contract for construction of the Well Site Facilities Upgrades. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Tustin City Council award the contract for the subject project to Norman A. Olsson Construction of Orange, California, in the mount of $560,294. FISCAL IMPACT The amount of this contract is $560,924. There is currently $994,300 remaining in the 1999/2000 Water Service Capital Improvement Program Budget allocated for completion of this project. BACKGROUND Bids were opened on July 1, 1999 for the subject project and five bids were received as follows: o 2. 3. 4. 5. The Contractor's references have been verified and past job performance has been satisfactory. DISCUSSION This contract will allow for the replacement of the electrical equipment at the Beneta, Pankey, Prospect, Tustin Avenue, Walnut and Yorba Well Sites and the implementation of automated chlorination at the AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WELL SITE FACILITIES UPGRADES, CITY PROJECT NO. 600077 July 19, 1999 Page 2 Beneta, Yorba and Walnut Well Sites. Construction of these improvements will enhance safety at the existing sites, improve the electrical reliability and enable the maintenance of a chlorine residual throughout the distribution system for the protection of public health.
