RECOMMENDATION:
Confirm Dee Dyball, Sonja Eden, Margarete Thompson, Goldie Nannes and Mary
Konjoyan to the Senior Advisory Board as recommended by the current Members of the
Board and Senior Center staff.
BACKGROUND:
Annual membership review of the Senior Advisory Board is completed in May of each
year. Currently there are three positions available for appointment and two new
vacancies. The Senior Advisory Board was created to advise staff on programs for the
health and well-being of senior citizens and to insure that seniors are always a part of the
program planning. Terms for membership on the Board are two years. Maintaining an
active Board is a requirement of the Senior Center Bond Act which provided a $450,000
grant to help fund the construction of the facility.
Qualifications for membership on the Board include being at least fifty-five years of age
and an involvement and interest in Senior Center programming. A subcommittee
comprised of Senior Advisory Board members and Senior Center staff interviewed
interested applicants and recommended the most qualified candidates to the City Council.
The Senior Advisory Board was designed to provide input and feedback to staff
regarding programs.
After City Council confirmation, new members will be installed at the next meeting of
the Senior Advisory Board, scheduled for July 22, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at the Tustin Area
Senior Center.
