HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FIELD SERVICES DIVISION AUTHORIZATION FOR THE STATE TO PURCHASE SIX MID-SIZE PICK-UP TRUCKS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN ISI_3.I~Y ~Resolution No. 99-37 will authorize the General Services Department of the State of California to purchase six current model year mid-size GMC pick-up truckS On behalf of the City of Tustin. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve Resolution No. 99-37 authorizing the General Services Department of the State of California to purchase six current model year GMC pick-up trucks on behalf of the City of Tustin. FISCAL IMPACT Funds are currently budgeted in the Equipment Lease Fund, Account Number 700-400-8010-9720 for the purchase of these vehicles. Total funds required including all taxes and State fees are $94,861.98. DISCUSSION The proposed purchase of six pick-up trucks is 'for replacement of existing vehicles currently in service and scheduled for replacement in FY 98/99 (Unit Nos. 4203, 5001, 5004, 5006, 5604 and 5631). Since the State buys in large volume they are able to receive a more competitive price for vehicles than the City cma. Staffreviewed published prices obtained from local vendors and compared these prices to the prices contained in the state contract. Staff also contacted a number of dealers in the area and received the following prices for like- equipped vehicles. As a result of the comparison, the most cost-effective option for the City is to purchase the new GMC Sonoma pick-up trucks through the General Services Department of the State of California at a total cost of 594.861.98. Prices below include taxes and applicable fees.
