Ball Field Maintenance Action Plan
In an effort to ensure the City receives the best
services at the most reasonable prices, the Parks
and Recreation Department issued an RFP for
ball field maintenance services:
• Primary Work — watering, dragging, chalking,
and clean up
*All sports fields need regular maintenance

Ball fields are prepared Monday — Friday for our
adult sports program at Tustin Sports Park and
Columbus Tustin Park.
• Adult Sports Revenue FY 12-13 - $166,624
• Fee for Adult Softball Team - $465 (early bird)
- $485 for 10 week season

Major League Softball
• Founded in 1986; Maintenance Division established in
1992
• Proven track record working with local agencies
• Turn -key operations —supply all equipment, supplies,
etc.
• Established—they conduct programs in:
— Orange County
— Los Angeles County
— Riverside County
— San Bernardino County
— Santa Barbara County
• Familiar with league rules
• Cost effective

Importance of Proper Ball Field
Maintenance
• Maintain high quality leagues
• Reduce need for expensive and timely field
renovations
• Consistent playing conditions and surfaces
• Maintain general park aesthetics
• Player and coach safety
• Better play and increased play = increased
revenues in the long run

Staff Recommendation
Approve Operator Services Agreement with
Major League Softball, Inc. for one (1) year with
two (2) optional one (1) year extensions.
