Traditionally, the city of Tustin has financially assisted both of its high schools, Foothill and Tustin, with their Grad Night activities. Grad Night this year, for both Foothill and Tustin is June 17, 1999. The Grad Night Committees of both schools are once again seeking a donation from the city to help support this event. We ask that Foothill and Tustin High School's requests for a donation be placed on the agenda for a Tustin City Council Meeting. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. Sincerely, Kumiko Winder Fund-raiser Chairperson Foothill Gradnight 19622 Country Haven Santa, Ana, CA 92705 Tel: (714) 744-0353 I O: L~arren Lowery ~arKs ~ Ixecrea[ion t-rom: ~ruce ~urns ~,t:~1~ 1UJUD:DU I-'agl~ Z Ol z: Tustin Hi.qh rad Nite 1999 Bruce L, Burns 13639 Redhill .avenue Tustin, California 92780 (714) 734-8339 March 5, 1999 Tustin City Council Attn: Honorable Thomas Saltarelli 301 Centennial Way Tustin, Ca. 92780 Dear Sir, For over a decade parents and community volunteers have put on an all night celebration for Tustin High School graduating seniors. Tiffs tradition was started as an answer to the growing number of alcohol and drag related accidents and deaths that occur as a result of unsupervised graduation celebrations. Grad Nite is a registered non-profit organization,, we depend on donations and fund-raisers to help defray the cost of the part5:. Approximately 80°,-/o of our budget is generated from the sale of tickets to the graduates. However Ibis organization solicits donations from the community at large in order to maintain an affordable admission price. It would be a shame that a graduate lost his/her life because they lacked the price of admission to this safe enviroment. In keeping vdth a theme, voted on by the graduates, we decorate the school. Dedicated volunteers who believe in offering a safe environment construct.these decorations. Some of these volunteers have no students attending Tustin High School, but feel a strong sense of communily involvement. Games, food and entertainment are provided from 9:30 pm until 5:30 am. I would be happy to answer an), questions you may have ha regards to this event. Thank you for your time and consideration. 'V~,., truly yours, Brace L.
