HomeMy WebLinkAbout13 SALARY CONF EMP 02-16-99 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 99-16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO THE COMPENSATION OF CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the City now desires to provide increaseS in compensation to its Confidential employees as a result of a conference with respective Department Heads, and subsequent to recommendations of the City Manager. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin, California, does hereby resolve as follows: Section 1. Salary Increase: Effective January 1, 1999, each employee in the Confidential Unit will receive a 2% salary increase and a 2% salary increase effective July 1, 2000. The Confidential Unit consists of the following classifications: Personnel AnalySt Executive Coordinator Office Coordinator Human Resources Assistant Office Support Specialist-City Manager's Office Section 2. Retirement Benefit: The Confidential Unit's retirement plan with the Public Employees Retirement System shall be changed to the 2% at 55 Retirement Plan effective January 1,2000. Section 3. Flexible Benefits: Effective January 1, 1999, Flexible Benefits Contribution by the City for Confidential Employees shall be amended as follows: Employee Only Employee plus One Dependent Employee Plus two or more dependents $312 $416 $520 Section 4. Other Benefits: Amendments pertaining to non-management, non-sworn employees made to the City Rules and Regulations, fringe benefits or other employment conditions shall also apply to Confidential Employees. HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PERSONNEL SERVICES APPROVE RESOLUTION 99-16 RELATING CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES TO SALARY OF SUMMARY: APPROVE RESOLUTION 99-16, TO GRANT CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES SALARY AND BENEFIT INCREASES OVER THE NEXT TVVO YEARS EQUIVALENT TO THOSE RECOMMENDED FOR OTHER GENERAL NON- MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1999, AND JULY 1,2000. RECOMMENDATION' That the City Council approve Resolution 99-16 granting salary increases to confidential employees of 2% effective January 1, 1999, and 2% effective July 1, 2000, increases in health and welfare program, and including this unit with the change in the Public Employees Retirement Plan to 2% at 55 as other miscellaneous employees. FISCAL IMPACT: The salary increases total approximately $9,234 over the two-year period. The increase in health and welfare benefits is approximately $768 per year. BACKGROUND' Changes to the salary and benefits package for Confidential Employees are the same as those proposed for other non-management, non-sworn employees represented by the Tustin Municipal Employees Association. The Confidential Employees are not represented by an association but they are generally given the same salary and benefits so that their job classes remain equivalent with those in the represented unit.
