RECOMMENDATION:

.
Declare one Kustom Signal '~Falcon" radar gun surplus property.
Authorize staff to donate the surplus radar gun to the California Cruisers Girls Softball
Team.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None
BACKGROUND:
In the mid 1980's, the police department obtained several radar speed guns for use in traffic
enforcement. These guns are obsolete and have been replaced by new technology (laser) for
traffic enforcement. They are of no value for law enforcement purposes.
The California Cruisers Girls Fast-Pitch Softball Team has a use for this technology. The
radar guns are used to measure the speed of the pitched softball. The California Cruisers are
a local softball team with headquarters in the Tustin area. As Council may recall, a
prods_marion was given to the te_~m a short while ago for their.second-place finish in the State
championship.
We recommend authorization be granted to give this radar gun to the California Cruisers
Girls Softball Team. A Release of Liability will be executed in accordance with City Attorney
recommendations prior to delivery of equipment.
