BACKGROUND' When the 1998-99 budget was approved by City Council, a new position was added in the Finance Division that will have substantial responsibilities in budgeting. Rather than create a new classification, the duties, skills, knowledge and abilities of the Administrative Assistant were amended to include this new position. The classification of Administrative Assistant has two levels, I and II. The new classification will be Management Analyst and Senior Management Analyst. The new position in Finance will be filled at the Senior level. The League of California Cities benchmark position for Administrative Assistant will also be changing to the new title of Management Analyst, so a title change for this position is also being recommended.
