HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER SERVICES DIVISION AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF RAWLINGS RESERVOIR BOOSTER STATION (CITY PROJECT NO. 600115) SUMMARY This action is a request for authorization to advertise for bids for construction of the Rawlings Reservoir Booster Station RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Tustin City Council adopt Resolution No. 98-87 approving plans and specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids for the subject project. FISCAL IMPACT The engineer's estimate for this project is $524,000. There is currently $552,800 remaining in the 1997/98 budget allocated for completion of this project. BACKGROUND The construction of the Rawlings Reservoir Booster Station was budgeted as a Water Capital Improvement Program Project within the current Fiscal Year. The project consists of the construction of a booster station with emergency generator adjacent to the existing Rawlings Reservoir. The project will: · Increase reliability to Zone 2. · Provide an emergency supply to Zone 2 during power failures. · Reduce water production costs by providing less expensive well water to Zone 2. DISCUSSION On July 15, 1996, the Tustin City Council authorized Daniel Boyle Engineering, Inc. (DBE) to prepare plans and specifications for the subject booster station construction. DBE has completed the plans and specifications which have been reviewed and approved by City staff.' V eet~i Water Services Manager TDS:GRV:ccg:advertise for bids Rawlings Booster Station Attachment 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 2.3 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 RESOLUTION NO. 98-8, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RAWLINGS RESERVOIR BOOSTER STATION AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS (PROJECT NO. 600115), WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Tustin, Califomia to contract construction of a booster station at the Rawlings Reservoir to boost water from Zone 1 to Zone 2; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for the construction of said work; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications presented by the City Engineer be and are hereby approved as the plans and specifications for: Construction of the Rawlings Reservoir Booster Pumping Station, City Project No. 600115 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this project has met the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act.
