RECOMMENDATION: Present scholarship awards to each of the four recipients. BACKGROUND: On May 4, 1998, City Council approved a proposal from the Parks and Recreation Commission to award a scholarship to a male and female student from Tustin and Foothill High Schools. Council directed that a $1000 award is to be presented to each winner and the presentation of such award shall take place at a Council meeting. DISCUSSION: Eighteen students from Tustin and Foothill High Schools applied for the City's Scholar Athlete Award. A sub-committee consisting of a A1 Murray, Parks and Recreation Commissioner., Bob Kiley, Tustin Community Foundation Director and Todd Ferguson, community resident, independently reviewed each of the applications. Recommendations from the sub-committee were conclusive in determining the following winners.
