HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PARKS AND RECREATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT FEE WAIVER- DINOSAUR DASH RECOMMENDATION: Pleasure of the Council. FISCAL IMPACT: Three departments will be providing services to assist in the production of the event. Public Works will provide approximately $4,000 in labor and equipment. The Police Department will provide about $1,000 in labor assistance. Parks and Recreation Services will provide approximately $250 in labor and permit processing. Total costs for the event assistance are estimated not to exceed $5,500. DISCUSSION:' The Tusfin Public Schools Foundation will be hosting the eighth annual Dinosaur Dash on Sunday, November 15, 1998. The event has served as a major fundraiser for the Foundation. The 1997 event had over 1,000 participants competing in the 5K and 10K races. Approximately 1,500 children participated in the 2K races. City staff from the Police and Public Works Departments will coordinate street closure and traffic control duties. In addition to City staff and equipment, the Foundation' is requesting the City to waive all fees for permits. A copy of this request is included as an attachment. Doug Davert, Tustin Public Schools Foundation Board Member, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to an~qwer any questions. It is slated for November 15, 1998 (Sunday) at Tustin Market Place. At this time, there are no significant changes planned from last year. In the past, you have been kind enough to handle the necessary permits for the event and prepare a report to the City Council requesting a waiver of the permit fees and the costs incurred by the Police Department and Field Services. Would you please do so again? Usually, this item is agendized for a Council meeting in July. Until further notice, I will be your contact conceming the event.
