He explained Class B roofing's higher level of fire
resistance; plywood sheathing costs; and Roofing Contractors
Association's support of Class B roofing.

Mayor Potts expressed concern regarding changing roof standard
requirements during the present economic conditions; but, he

would outweigh replacement costs.

more expensive, it would enhance the property value and
provide additional fire safety.
Councilmember Puckett noted several fires had occurred in his
neighborhood and Class B roofing would provide fire safety and
was worth the extra cost.

retroactive and would require installation of Class B roofing
only at the time of reroofing.
