Dear Mayor Thomas:
The Orange County Transportation Authority has initiated detailed conceptual
engineering for an urban rail line in the 28-mile corridor that runs from Irvine to
Fullerton. This phase of the project will determine, a final route, location of
stations, and the system technology.
In order to involve Orange County cities in this effort, OCTA is establishing a
Joint Agency Group (JAG) to discuss the engineering study as it progresses.
Each Orange County city is invited to appoint a councilmember to participate on
the JAG. ltis anticipated that a subcommittee of the seven cities within the 28-
mile corridor will meet more frequently to interact with OCTA on the policy level
as the study progresses. The full JAG will meet three times over the next two
years to review project milestones.
Please confirm your current representative to the previous Corridor Elected
Officials group or appoint a councilmember to participate in the JAG. Our first
meeting is scheduled to take place at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7 in room 103
of the OCTA offices at 600 S. Main in Orange. Please RSVP by May 1 to
Wendy Knowles of OCTA at 560-5676 to confirm your attendance. If you have
any questions, please contact Bill Hodge of the OCTA staff at 560-5901.
We look forward to seeing you or your representative on May 7th.
Sincerely,_
Director
