AND CITYWIDE SIDEWALK REPAIR PROJECT FOR FY 2012 -13 CIP NO.
70001 AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY ENGINEER TO FILE A NOTICE OF
COMPLETION
SUMMARY
Construction of the Annual Roadway Rehabilitation and Citywide Sidewalk Repair Project for FY
2012 -13 CIP No. 70001 has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and the project
is now ready for City Council acceptance.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt Resolution No. 13 -93 accepting the construction of the Annual Roadway
Rehabilitation and Citywide Sidewalk Repair Project CIP No. 70001; and
2. Authorize the City Engineer to execute and file the Notice of Completion with the County
Recorder's Office.
FISCAL IMPACT
The final construction cost for the Annual Roadway Rehabilitation and Citywide Sidewalk Repair
Project for FY 2012 -13 is $1,136,251.87 which is lower than the total bid amount. The project was
funded through a combination of Gas Tax funds of $515,000 and General Fund - Capital
Improvement Projects funds of $1,250,000. The total construction cost includes $25,000 of work
related to and reimbursed by the Orange County Sanitation District to adjust their manhole frames
and covers to grade.
CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN
Rehabilitation of roadways and repair of sidewalks contributes to the fulfillment of the City's
Strategic Plan Goal B: Public Safety and Protection of Assets. Specifically, the project implements
strategy #3, which among other items, is to ensure continuous maintenance and improvement of
public facilities.
DISCUSSION
The Roadway Rehabilitation and Citywide Sidewalk Repair Project CIP 70001 for Fiscal Year
2012 -13 consisted of asphalt concrete pavement repair, asphalt concrete overlay, slurry sealing,
traffic striping, and removal and replacement of curb ramps to meet current federal ADA
requirements on various streets within Zone 1 of the City's Pavement Management Program. The
project also included citywide sidewalk repair, which focuses on removal and replacement of

damaged sidewalk to correct tripping hazards at numerous locations throughout the City, based on
an annual field survey conducted by the Engineering Division.
Construction of the project is deemed complete to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and is now
ready for City Council acceptance.

RESOLUTION NO. 13 -93
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND
AUTHORIZING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF
COMPLETION FOR THE ANNUAL ROADWAY REHABILITATION AND
CITYWIDE SIDEWALK REPAIR PROJECT CIP NO. 70001 FOR FY
2012 -2013
WHEREAS, Sequel Contractors, Inc., having a contract with the City of Tustin to
construct the hereinafter described public works and improvement; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and
completion of said public improvement hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory
to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public
improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions
of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public
works and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract
authorized in accordance with the contract documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin
that said public works and improvement is found to be complete, and the same is
hereby accepted.
Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows:
Annual Roadway Rehabilitation and Citywide Sidewalk Repair Project
CIP No. 70001
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is
hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said
public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
