HomeMy WebLinkAbout07 SURPLUS EQUIPMENT 01-19-98AGENDA DATE: JANUARY 19, 1998 NO. 7 1-19-98 I n t e r- C o TO: FROM: SUBJECT: WILLIAM ltUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORK DEPARTMENT / FIELD SERVICES DECLARATION OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: ' That the City Council, at their regular meeting of January 19, 1998, declare the equipment detailed in this report as surplus and not required for public use. Authorize the Public Works Department to dispose of this equipment in accordance with the Tustin Municipal Code, Section 1626. FISCAL IMPACT: The total proceeds received ~for the sale of the aforementioned vehicles and work equipment is to be credited to Account No. 010-300-0000-4771. DISCUSSION: Section 1626A(2) of the Tustin Municipal Code, requires the purchasing agent to prepare a written estimate of value for any surplus items not usable by the City, or not required for public use. Further, the City Council must find that these surplus items are not required for public use. After said finding, the purchasing agent shall have the authority to sell such items in accordance with Section 1626 Of the Tustin Municipal Code. The Public Works Department has received proposals from auction companies and is prepared to sell the equipment at the next available public auction. The surplus vehicles were replaced in the 1997/98 budget as part of the normal rotation and replacement of equipment. Tim D.
