APPROVAL OF PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZATION TO
ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR COLUMBUS TUSTIN FACILITY & BALL FIELD
RENOVATION
SUMMARY:
The scope of work includes demolition and construction of a restroom/concession
building, infield improvements, replacement of backstops & dugouts, installation of a
monument sign, replacement of perimeter fencing, upgrade of sports field lighting,
improvements to basketball courts including lighting, office renovation at CT Activity
Center, installation & removal of flatwork, drainage and related improvements.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council adopt the attached Resolution No. 02-96 approving Plans and
Specifications for Columbus Tustin Facility & Ball Field Renovation (Project No. 2048),
and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The project will be financed through the Park Development Fund. The total allocation
for design services and construction at Columbus Tustin Park is $1,070,000 (11-999-
9535-2048) as identified in the 2002/03 Capital Improvement Program.
BACKGROUND:
The work to be performed is at Columbus Tustin Park, 17522 Beneta Way. The scope
of improvements was developed with input from the Tustin Unified School District. The
renovated restroom building will include an enlarged concession area for local sports
organizations use. A Notice of Determination has been filed with the County Recorder
in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act and the Public Resources
Code Section 21092.3. The project has been determined to have no further impacts
and a Notice of Exemption has been prepared.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND
AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR COLUMBUS
TUSTIN FACILITY & BALLFIELD RENOVATION.
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Tustin to renovate the facilities and
ball fields at Columbus Tustin Park; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Services Department has presented
plans and specifications for the construction of said works; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications
presented by the Parks and Recreation Services Department are hereby approved as
the plans and specifications for Columbus Tustin Facility & Ball Field Renovation;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for
the completion of work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications;
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Tustin at a regular
meeting held on the 2nd day of December 2002.
