RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council at their regular meeting of December l, 1997 award the bid for two extended
cab pickup tracks to Downey Ford of Downey, California, for a total cost'of $37,949.76.
FISCAL IlVlPACT
The two extended cab pickup tracks were approved for replacement in the 1997/98 budget. Funding
for the .replacement of these vehicles will come from accumulated monies in the Vehicle
Replacement Funds. Fund contributions to the lease fund for these two vehicles exceed the
replacement amounts.
BACKGROUND
Bids were solicited from 20 auto dealerships, including local dealers. Five bids were returned with
the bid from Downey Ford in the amount of $18,974.88 per vehicle being the lowest. Staff has
reviewed the bid of Downey Ford and recommends award. The two pickup tracks will replace
existing vehicles in the Police Department and Field Services Division of Public Works. The
existing vehicles have reached an age and mileage where continued repair will no longer prove cost
effective.
