HUSTON, CITY MANAGER CObIMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT CULTURAL RESOURCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE GOALS RECOMMENDATION That the City Council receive and file this. report. FISCAL IMPACT No City Council action is being requested at this time; therefore, no direct impacts to the General Fund are anticipated. If all of the Committee's eight goals were implemented, it is estimated that the fiscal impact would be approximately $9,000 in staff costs. Additional costs associated with the actual implementation of the various programs and projects discussed in the goals are unknown at this time. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION At the March 12, 1997 Cultural Resource Advisory Committee meeting, the Committee discussed, revised and reprioritized its goals. These goals are based on the COmmittee's goals originally developed in 1990. The Committee prioritized the goals into three categories as follows: Hiqh Priority: 1) Study the possible recommendations to the City Council to create an .expanded Cultural Resources District north of First Street. 2) Act as a resource to assist in preparing a Guide to Financial Resources for Preservation of Historical Resources. City Council Report CRAC Goals October 20, 1997 Page 2 3) Establish an educational outreach program for Old Town residents. Medium Priority: s) 6) Recommend to the City Council' that structures listed on the Historical Survey be eligible to be nominated to receive proclamations/plaques for their architectural and historical significance, or for significant achievement by property owners in preserving and enhancing'the City's Cultural Resources District. Investigate the feasibility of undergrounding utilities .in Old Town, including costs and procedure. Partner with the Tustin Old Town Association and residents in developing design~ideas for Old Town Tustin. Participate in City Council hearings when Commercial Design Guidelines are considered. ' Low Priority: 7) 8) Assist with the completion of a vacant lot survey within the Cultural Resources District. Examine and'recommend guidelines for faCilitating the relocation and movement of structures into the Cultural Resources District. At this time, all of the goals within the "High Priority,, category are being pursued by the Committee.
